Rodney Donaldson NZPGA Trainee

Hi my name is Rodney Donaldson. I am now half way through my PGA traineeship which means I only have 1 and a half more years of my training and then I am fully qualified. I am now able to give lessons which I am really enjoying and finding it is a great way for me to give back to the game of Golf.

For those who don’t know what the traineeship consists of, it consists of 20+ assignments a year ranging from Coaching, Retail Business Management, Professional Services, Club Repairs and there is a playing component to this aswell. This covers absolutely everything there is to know in the world of Golf and is a 3 year course. I am really enjoying the training and while it is hard work I can see the end of the tunnel and know that I will have recieved the best training I could have for the rest of my career.

I am originally from Wanganui and grew up playing at Castlecliff Golf Club from a young age and spent many days out there from sunrise to sunset. After spending a year living in Canada working at a golf course for the summer made me realize that I wouldn’t be happy not working in golf so I set out looking for a job I would enjoy, here I am and I love it. I have always enjoyed the challenge of the game and continuing to try and improve on the course like everyone else.

I look forward to being able to help you with your game.
